Specialty Stainless Steel Processes (S³P) is a family of proprietary technologies for the treatment of stainless steel, nickel-based and cobalt-chromium alloys. S³P provides a unique solution for improving the strength, hardness and wear resistance of stainless steel without affecting its inherent corrosion-resistant properties.

Stainless steel has many excellent characteristics but is disadvantaged by several factors such as low strength, surface hardness and wear resistance. Typically, other treatment processes will improve these issues but will also negatively impact corrosion resistance. Bodycote’s unique and proven S³P technology provides surface hardening solutions which increase mechanical and wear properties without adversely affecting corrosion resistance.
